What
is Poomsae?
Poomsae
is a series of movements with both offensive and defensive techniques,
which can be practised and trained even without the presence of
an instructor. Each basic movement within poomsaes have been inherited
through a long history of about 2000 years, finally they have become
a prophet of scientific technique formulated on a basis of traditional
training and practical experiments. It is believed that in ancient
times poomsaes were practised among the ruling classes and the first
recorded poomsae appeared in the documents and monuments of the
first century when Koguryo reined the Han (Korean) race.
Considerations
for Poomsae training.
Pattern - First learn the pattern of movement.
Practical
use - You must understand the practical application of each
move.
During
practise - Be aware of the eyes, balance, low and high speed
moves, strong or soft move and respiration.
